Here’s an update on this thread… Trying to import IDs into a list. I have a CSV with nationbuilder_ids and state_file_ids of people who are already in my database – I’m just trying to import them to a list based on search criteria I queried offline. However, when I’m trying to map the fields on the import, state_file_id is not one of the fields available in the drop down, and when I try mapping only nation_builder_ids, it says that that is not sufficient to make a match. So, 2 issues to report:
1) state_file_id is not a field option
2) unique matching should only require a nationbuilder_id

Okay, so the problem was just on matching state_file_id. I’ve got that fixed. Looks like you are re-importing with the nationbuilder_id, I will let that finish before putting this fix live. But for future, you will be able to use the state_file_id to do the matching.

Got it, thanks for the details. There is something weird going on with matching on the IDs.. working on it.

Jim – yep, I was able to export everyone in two batches then do a join on nationbuilder IDs and my state_file_id s, then reimport voter history. Note, when I was importing it and mapped just nationbuilder IDs and the vhXX fields, I got an “ID field required” error. When I mapped both nationbuilder IDs and state_file_id s, along with the vhXX fields, it finally worked.

Looks like you figured out how to get the voter history in, it just finished importing.

The short answer to both of your questions is that you are doing it right, there is just some bug that I need to get fixed. I’ll do that and get your data imported.

Yes, if you supply a state_file_id in the import, it is supposed to match those up and let you tag them. And your mapping on the voter history is correct as well.

I tried doing a similar import to apply a tag to a group of people and got the following error:

You must supply at least a first and last name, an email address, or a phone number. is invalid

However, this makes no sense from a data perspective. First/Last name paris are not unique in my dataset. I don’t have phone numbers or emails. However, VOTER ID (which I map to NB state_file_id) is unique. It’s also what I want to use to merge the data.
