We are very excited to announce that we’ve launched a new feature named Groups. This feature will allow for more granularity and targeting within your permission set structure and offers more flexibility than the existing ‘point person’ solution. It will be especially valuable for any nations that serve multiple chapters, regional groups or campaigns.
In short, groups are collections of Control Panel Users (CPUs) who are responsible for similar types of supporters or job functions within an organization. Lists of people and individual websites can be assigned to these groups in order to limit the types of records a CPU has access to in the nation.
Groups can be made up of a number of different CPUs who have the same role and/or different permission sets but need access to the same people (via lists) and/or websites.
Examples of where, Groups, can be helpful include:
- Allowing multiple CPUs to have access to specified people without giving them access to your full database (something that ‘point person’ assignment does not allow for). For example, if multiple people in a region or on a specific campaign need access to a limited number of people.
- Giving editing access to specific websites within the nation rather than all websites. Allowing for chapter or group-specific websites to be created without enabling access to people outside the group. This could work for individual regional, chapter or campaign specific websites.
- Creating separate thematic or geographic groups of permission sets, who have access to different supporters and websites within your nation.

The feature is initially available to customers on Enterprise, Network and Architect plans only.
