On January 16th PST NationBuilder will be discontinuing its Facebook integration. This decision was made after considering the value that the integration brings to customers and the resources needed to keep it up to date. The feedback we've received is that there isn't a lot of value and that sometimes the integration can result in duplicate profiles and unwanted data.

The features currently available that will be discontinued in early 2023 include:

  • Connection of Facebook pages to broadcasters, posts and likes, importing followers, and posts to Facebook pages from the control panel
  • Posting from NationBuilder broadcaster pages to Facebook
  • Find Friends page type
  • Facebook-related liquid drops - any liquid variable that involve Facebook
  • Ability to see likes from a connected Facebook page on an individual's profile

If you or your team are significantly impacted by this decision please reach out and we will see how else we might be able to support you [email protected]

Frequently asked questions

Will I still be able to log in using Facebook? Yes, logging in using Facebook is here to stay.

Does this mean that the Twitter integration is also going to be discontinued? No, the Twitter integration is not being discontinued and is managed completely separately from our Facebook integration.

Now that Facebook isn’t integrated with NationBuilder, does that make it harder for me to get new supporters into my nation? Not at all. The Facebook integration always required new supporters to sign up to be contactable through your nation. You can still acquire new supporters by sharing your action page links on Facebook. This gets people to your website where they can sign up through any action page (petition, donation, sign up etc.)

And, of course, the best channel to acquire supporters through social media has always been getting them to click through to your website and take an action directly. That still works as it always has.

If you’re looking for exciting and innovative ways to grab the attention of potential new supporters, you should check out our newest product, ActionButton. It’s an engagement tool that’s easy to set up and feature on your NationBuilder website and social media platforms. The buttons make engagement simple and fun, with some examples of buttons including:

  • Sentiment polls
  • Quizzes
  • Voter registration
  • Email legislators

Here are instructions on how to get set up with ActionButton, or you can see examples and learn more at ActionButton.org.

If you still have questions after reading this blog please email our support team at [email protected] or contact them via chat in your nation’s control panel.
